We all need to learn how to better focus on hearing, listening, responding to, and affirming each other. In our programs, each person is empowered with the warmth and space they need to express their personal experiences without fear. By connecting on a personal level, our programs inspire us to envision a better world and model how to build it. More empathetic, effective communication is a skill we all need to master in order to have more productive and respectful conversations, and these conversations can be translated into large-scale change. Our signature “compassionate conversations” program is how we educate our members to turn the theory of effective, empathetic communication into practice.

Compassionate Conversations

Compassionate Conversations is our communication training program. It is designed to support participants in building empathy-rooted sharing, active listening, and dispute resolution skills. The goal is to equip our members with effective everyday tools to engage in productive and respectful discussions, especially around emotionally-charged topics or situations.
The program provides critical skill-based training in various topics based on our community’s self-assessed needs: active listening, storytelling, dispute resolution, bystander intervention, and crisis response. The training aims to prevent, respond to, transform, and de-escalate high-risk or conflict situations that threaten our sense of identity, safety, norms and beliefs.
